Asphalt Maintenance Tips To Protect and Revive Driveways

Asphalt Maintenance Tips To Protect and Revive Driveways

With the mild winter and warmer seasons approaching home maintenance is beginning to take priority.

One area of the home that is sometimes neglected is the driveway.

If you happen to have an asphalt driveway the spring and summer seasons are the best time to do the maintenance asphalt requires to stay in excellent shape and keep the curb appeal of your home or business looking great. One way to maintain your asphalt driveways or parking lots is to have them periodically seal coated.

Seal Coating

Seal coating helps to protect the asphalt and to revive the by providing a layer of material made of the same or similar contents that asphalt is made of in order to refresh the asphalt that has naturally oxidized over time. Seal coating periodically will help extend the life of your driveway or parking lot and keep it looking close to new.

Application Time Frame

A good interval to do this is every two to three years. The time frame would be dependent on the local weather and how long the last coat can survive in that weather. More severe weather will wear the sealcoat faster and the 2-year interval would be more likely.

The best way to have your asphalt seal coated

The best way to have your asphalt seal coated is to hire a professional. It is the most cost-effective way to have it done as they have already invested in the equipment necessary to apply the seal coat.

Dry Well Systems Are A Sustainable Solution for Storm Water Runoff

Dry Well Systems Are A Sustainable Solution for Storm Water Runoff

Storm water runoff can cause major damage to properties if not removed and allowed to sit, can stagnate. Water runoff needs help being removed by installing a dry well system.

This will slowly disperse water into the ground in areas where it is hard or impossible to install a drain pipe that carries water away.  Dry well systems are also used to help keep any pollutants that can be found on a piece of property to stay on that property without contaminating natural waterways.  An example would be asphalt debris that typically runs off of the roof and into the gutter downspout.

One dry well solution to use is NDS Flo-Well. It is a manufactured dry well that is an easy to install and sustainable solution for storm water runoff. Used independently or as part of a larger storm water management system, Flo-Well units collect, retain, and discharge storm water on-site, offering a gravel-free alternative to a traditional dry well.

Units are modular and can be connected in series or stacked to meet a variety of project needs and accommodate higher volumes of water. The NDS Flo Well is easy to install and does not require heavy equipment.

Environmentally friendly, made from 100% recycled materials.

It is environmentally friendly, made from 100% recycled materials and filters storm water naturally through subsurface, reducing pollutants and helps replenish groundwater tables by discharging stormwater on site.

NDS Flo Wells hold 50 gallons of water.  If more retention is necessary multiple flow wells can be connected together either vertically or horizontally.

Another option for water retention and dispersion for larger applications is the StormTech Stormwater Chamber.  These chambers hold a larger amount of water, if needed.  They are recommended to be installed with gravel and come in various sizes to accommodate the needs of different job sites.

Slowly disperse water into the ground in areas where it is hard or impossible to install a drain pipe.

Both of these products are used to help slowly disperse water into the ground in areas where it is hard or impossible to install a drain pipe that carries water away.

They are also similar in that the StormTech chamber, like the NDS Flo Well, helps to keep any pollutants that can be found on a piece of property to stay on that property without contaminating natural waterways.
